What a scheduled visit includes
- Functional testing of each system against its own schedule, not a walk round with a clipboard.
- Panel interrogation, fault log review and battery load testing on alarm systems.
- Pump running tests, including start on demand and pressure performance.
- Valve position verification and flow testing where the system design allows.
- A written report of every defect found, ranked by whether it stops the system working or is a housekeeping item.
- Update of the system records, so the file is complete when it is next inspected.
Fire Certificate and inspection support
- We keep the maintenance records in the format an inspection expects, so the file does not have to be assembled under time pressure.
- Where a Fire Certificate renewal is approaching, we review the system against the conditions attached to it and flag anything likely to be raised.

How often should fire systems be inspected?
It varies by system. Alarm panels and detection are checked frequently, pumps and sprinkler valve sets on their own cycle, and suppression cylinders less often but more thoroughly.
We build one schedule covering everything on site so visits are combined rather than arriving separately every few weeks.
What happens if an inspection finds a defect?
It goes in the report with a clear indication of whether it stops the system working or is a housekeeping matter, and we quote the remedial work.
We do not close a visit by marking a system serviceable when it is not, which occasionally makes for an uncomfortable conversation and is the entire value of the service.
Can you help with Fire Certificate renewal?
Yes. We review the systems against the conditions attached to the certificate, put right what needs putting right, and provide the maintenance records that support the renewal.
It is much easier when we already hold the maintenance contract, because the records exist rather than needing reconstruction.
Do you take on buildings where the records are a mess?
Regularly. The first visit is longer, because it involves building an asset register from what is actually installed rather than from a file that no longer matches the building.
You get a clear picture of what is on site, what works, and what has to be corrected, and from that point the schedule runs normally.
